“Dette var billedet, der satte mig på vejen mod en karriere som rock & roll-fotograf. Jeg tog dette billede af Ace den 18. februar 1977, da KISS spillede i Madison Square Garden under deres Rock and Roll Over Tour. Ved årets udgang var KISS tilbage i New York City for at spille tre udsolgte koncerter i Madison Square Garden. Jeg printede et par hundrede billeder fra MSG-koncerten, jeg havde taget tidligere på året, og tog ned til spillestedet til den første koncert. Jeg ventede på, at publikum kom ud efter koncerten, og så begyndte jeg at sælge billeder. Jeg blev arresteret af politiet for at sælge mine billeder og tilbragte natten i fængsel. Da jeg kom ud, brugte jeg de næste par dage på at sammensætte en portfolio af mit arbejde og tog den derefter med til kontorerne for magasinet Circus på Manhattan. Som heldet ville, var art directoren ikke på deadline, og så bød han og udgiveren, Gerald Rothberg, mig velkommen ind på hans kontor. The print quality on this MSG shot is unreal — you can make out the texture of Ace's spaceman costume and the sweat on his face. Hung it above my turntable and it instantly became the focal point of the room.

Bought this as a gift for my dad who saw them on that same tour, and the print quality holds up way better than I expected for a 1977 concert shot. Only gripe is the paper feels a bit thin, so frame it before it gets bent. Ace's makeup and the Les Paul come through sharp even at full size.

The photo has this gritty, live-energy feel that matches the story behind it—you can tell it was shot from the pit, not a glossy promo. Print quality on the matte paper is solid, though I wish the listing included the exact dimensions before I ordered. Still, a great piece for any KISS fan's wall.
