Ho scattato questa foto ad Ace il 18 febbraio 1977, quando i KISS suonarono al Madison Square Garden durante il loro Rock and Roll Over Tour. Alla fine dell'anno i KISS erano di nuovo a New York City per tre date esaurite al Madison Square Garden. Ho stampato qualche centinaio di foto del concerto al MSG che avevo scattato all'inizio dell'anno e mi sono diretto al locale per il primo spettacolo. Ho aspettato che la folla uscisse dopo lo spettacolo, e poi ho iniziato a vendere le foto. Sono stato arrestato dalla polizia per aver venduto le mie foto e ho passato la notte in prigione. Dopo essere uscito, ho passato i giorni successivi a mettere insieme un portfolio del mio lavoro e poi l'ho portato negli uffici della rivista Circus a Manhattan. Per fortuna, il direttore artistico era fuori scadenza, e così lui e l'editore, Gerald Rothberg, mi hanno accolto nel suo ufficio. The print quality on this MSG shot is unreal — you can make out the texture of Ace's spaceman costume and the sweat on his face. Hung it above my turntable and it instantly became the focal point of the room.

Bought this as a gift for my dad who saw them on that same tour, and the print quality holds up way better than I expected for a 1977 concert shot. Only gripe is the paper feels a bit thin, so frame it before it gets bent. Ace's makeup and the Les Paul come through sharp even at full size.

The photo has this gritty, live-energy feel that matches the story behind it—you can tell it was shot from the pit, not a glossy promo. Print quality on the matte paper is solid, though I wish the listing included the exact dimensions before I ordered. Still, a great piece for any KISS fan's wall.
