While on assignment for McCall's in September of 1969, Milton joined Steve McQueen for the Baja 1000, which was a dune buggy race down the Baja peninsula. Milton documented over 350 images during their time together. This image is of Steve taking a look at it all in his t-shirt, brown stocking hat, and red bandana around his neck.
I was worried the print would feel flat, but the image has so much depth you can almost hear the engine noise and feel the dust from the Baja 1000. It's the perfect 350-shot archive moment, and the paper quality really makes McQueen's expression pop.
